My second year of uni is now over (ish)

I still have a week left but it’s basically over for me now aha

Over the summer I’m going to be looking for more people to follow to fill up my dash with awesome, inspirational pieces. I really want to be more active on here so would need a lot of inspiration to keep me going until uni starts again!

Update

Hey guys!
So my uni work is going well now that I know what direction I’m headed: managed to finish and print off my invitation, worked on my Save the Date (which is actually complete now) so now I just need to work on my RSVP but that’s pretty much finished now too.

I’m thinking of doing more for this project because I’m just so near the end, but then again I don’t want to go in a mad rush to research, sketch and design something. Hmm, shall have to think about it!

Once this project is done I’m going to be on here a lot more to get into the design community on tumblr. It would be so nice to start making friends and getting inspired on here!

My Thoughts

I had a little chat today to my lecturer because wow I was stressing out so much about this project. Every design I did just didn’t “feel” right and I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I tried, but I couldn’t achieve that perfect design that I had in mind.

I told her this and she pointed out that my designs lacked character, and that I should do some hand illustrations and BOOM it was suddenly so obvious.

I wasn’t doing something that I loved; instead, I was forcing myself to do something that I thought would be “good for me”.

I mean I did learn from all of those designs and I know how to work with illustrator more but I hated almost every moment of it.

I’m truly in love with traditional illustration.

Eurgh how could I be so stupid! It was so obvious and yet I was so blind with stress that I didn’t see it. From now on I’m going to look at inspirational illustrators and hopefully shall have enough research by the end of this week to produce some sketches and my design.

You mentioned moving the type to the right a little bit and I would agree. Maybe instead of starting those last three lines on the flourishes of the “O”, start them at the “O” itself.

The solid windows seem to distract from the text. Maybe just keep the out line. The text is a bit over kerned too but if you can always play with it.

They are sooo distracting, so I’ve deleted them and have been working on the kerning because gah even though it’s beautifully aligned on both sides, the kerning just doesn’t want to work at all >_>
